2009/2010 ANNUAL REPORT:

This Section presented a program on the new Workers' Compensation Commission Emergency COMAR Regulations concerning agreement of fi nal compromise and settlements, featuring R. Karl Aumann, Chair of the Workers' Compensation Commission, and Commissioner Maureen Quinn. It also established a subcommittee charged with the task of drafting new jury instructions for workers' compensation cases, which are now in the process of being fi nalized. The Section cosponsored a presentation to the Baltimore County Bar Association about liens and pitfalls involving Medicare and personal injury and workers' compensation cases. It will participate in Solo Day at the MSBA Annual Meeting.


PURPOSE:

The purpose of this Section is to promote the objects of the Maryland State Bar Association within the particular fields of negligence, insurance and worker's compensation, and to that end, to further the development of the law of these issues; to stimulate and extend the study of these fields of the law, to cooperate in obtaining legislation and administration in all matters concerning negligence, insurance and worker's compensation, and to simplify and improve the application of justice in these fields of the Law.
