Special Committee on Construction Law
| MISSION STATEMENT: |
The purpose of the Construction Law Committee of MSBA is to bring together Maryland lawyers who practice construction litigation or construction law related to real estate transactions practices with a variety of educational and social activities. The Committee events should enhance the camaraderie and professionalism among construction law practitioners. Moreover, the Committee's sponsorship of educational programs, updates on developments in law and legislation, and written materials and resources for practitioners should promote a higher caliber of legal practice among Committee members and across the Bar generally. |
2009/2010 ANNUAL REPORT: |
This Committee was created by MSBA's Board of Governors
in November 2009 to better include the many construction
lawyers who are litigators and to increase the profi le of the
Committee to the membership of the Bar. It sponsored a
kickoff reception in January, where it distributed a summary
of recent case law and proposed Maryland legislation, and held
educational programs in March and May. The Committee will
continue its efforts to reach out to many construction lawyers
who have not been active through networking, programs
and educational materials that are relevant and useful to
construction law practitioners and will present a general
construction law program for judges and practitioners at the
MSBA Annual Meeting. |
