May 15, 2012 - 5:30 p.m. - Community Service Event - The Alliance of Black Women Attorneys will be introducing young women of the Girls' Empowerment Mission (GEM) to the field of law through an interactive lesson on the legal process. The activity will engage students in an interactive case analysis centered around cyberbullying. Students will be placed in groups and have the opportunity to analyze whether the given factual scenarios would give rise to cyberbullying. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in a question/answer exchange with members of the Alliance about education, careers, and life choices. The Alliance is seeking volunteers to share their experiences and help facilitate the group sessions. The event will take place on May 15th at 5:30 pm at Chesapeake High School, 1801 Turkey Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21221. GEM is a program to empower high school girls from under-served communities by providing opportunities and growth experiences that will enable them to become independent, self-sufficient, and confident young women. GEM helps these girls understand that while they cannot help where they come from, they can control where they are going.
